Banorte’s 11 million credit card users now can shop using a fully touchless payment option.

The bank has expanded access to Apple Pay for its Visa clients – six months after launching the program for its Mastercard cardholders – to make in-app purchases as well as in stores that accept contactless payments.

Banorte said Apple Pay allows a secure, practical, private and contactless way to complete transactions via credit card – all from an iPhone and Apple Watch.

Its customers not only are looking for ease of use in their banking but also continued health and safety protections.

“We are committed to offering the best digital experience to all of our customers,  we will continue to work towards having the latest digital technology for banking in Mexico”, said Banorte Chairman, Carlos Hank González.

Providing Apple Pay is Banorte’s latest embrace of customer-centric benefits that have made it a tech and digital leader in the industry, from being the first bank in Mexico to offer credit line increases through digital banking to developing artificial intelligence applications.

Under the expanded Apple Pay program, Banorte customers can make faster and more convenient purchases in apps without having to create accounts or repeatedly type in shipping and billing information. Apple Pay also makes it easier to pay for food and grocery deliveries and online shopping.

The purchase is secure since it must be authenticated with Face ID, Touch ID or the access code to the device, and a unique dynamic security code.

The pandemic accelerates the digital adoption of many consumers, reaching more than 40 percent of all face-to-face transactions worldwide, according to Visa.
